Creativity and New Media

Creativity and New Media     New media has enabled us to become creative in many ways that was unimaginable just few years ago.  For this assignment, I used Instagram to create a story where I can connect and interact with my current and potential followers.  Instagram now allows variety of ways that enable dynamic interaction between its users.  Few of those features include questions box, poll and quiz on stories that last for 24 hour span once posted.       In my Instagram story, I used multiple features to make it more attractive and there are few potential business opportunities as well.  I just tried to be casual with the question and included a countdown.  I also included a song that I thought goes well with the story.  If this story was for business then the question could've been about an upcoming album drop by an artist who wants to advertise on social media platform.  The countdown would be the release date and ...

HW Creativity

HW Creativity        Being creative and thinking outside of the box is crucial for any brand to be competitive.  And innovation in digital media has enabled a lot of avenues for companies and even individuals to be creative and reach out to audience.  Digital marketing has taken huge steps towards making creative marketing and made transitional media channels almost obsolete.       In the article written by Lisa Mulcahy titled "How user-generated content can improve your social media marketing strategy", we get to learn different ways that parties involved in marketing strategy can use social media to become more effective and efficient in their marketing efforts.  Lisa suggests that sharing links in as many relevant sites helps gain exposure, offering incentives like promo code, freebies, etc., helping user shape their content like if you want a video review, unboxing video, or a review.  All of these tactics are being u...

Modeling Reality with Virtual Worlds

Modeling Reality with Virtual Worlds      Virtual reality is a computer generated stimuli that creates a immersive illusion of real world like experience.  In my opinion, it is the next big thing after the smartphone revolution.  It has a lot of potential to make our world a better place as it can be used for education and medical purposes.  But it also raises the concern of privacy breaches, internet addiction and toxic online behavior.        We all know VR would greatly enhance the gaming experience but its positives go way beyond that.  It shows promising applications for pain relief and PTSD, for education and design. It can also be used for both telecommuting and office work, enabling coworkers to have that almost office vibe without being there and in our time a socially distanced work environment.        Although VR has all of these amazing application purposes to make our lives better it ...

Blog about Twitter

Blog about Twitter      Twitter is an microblogging and social networking service where users can post and interact with others.  The messages or short microblogs are known as "tweets" and users are limited to 280 characters in a tweet.      Comparing Twitter to Blackboard discussion is like comparing a Ferrari to a Honda.  Honda is good but Ferrari is just better with its design and performance capabilities.  I think of the same while comparing Twitter discussion to Blackboard discussion.  Twitter has better design.  Its user focused design is miles ahead of Blackboard and the numerous features it has over Blackboard can be another blog post in itself.  I can see seamlessly and in blazing speed what my colleagues are talking about and see a specific topic discussion by using hashtag while in Blackboard I would have to go to a discussion, then click on one my friends post, then anoth...

Social networking sites

Social Networking Sites There have been a lot of social media platforms that have come and gone like myspace and Hi5.  We have now a shortlist of social media companies that dominate the space and they are Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn.  I know I'm missing some other social media sites that are also dominant but these four were the first ones to get into the space.  All of these social media sites offer great platform for their users to share, view and connect with other users.  Out of the four social media sites mentioned above Instagram was bought by Facebook and LinkedIn was bought by Microsoft Corp.  Comparing these four social media sites requires one to understand why they are using it in the first place.  Facebook is mainly regarded as social media for family and friends to connect and keep in touch.  While Instagram is usually regarded as millennial social media site where they can share pictures and stories for 24 hours.  It i...
